Okay. The Halal thing.
More food is getting into our society which is Halal. If you go to a Turkish restaurant you are eating Halal. Tesco and Sainsbury are both stocking Halal meat. If it is not in your basket, then it soon will be, if you are not careful.
So are we to ignore Peter and James when we are instructed to abstain from food sacrificed to idols? If so, why?
If not, what are people doing about it?
I have also read that the statement which says that we should ask no questions of conscience regarding meat purchased in the meat market is a mis-translation, and should be that we should not refrain from asking about meat in the meat market. I don't know about this though.
(Halal is offered to Allah and the prayer over the animal prior to slaughter is said while facing Mecca), incidentally. It is food sacrificed to idols.
