Heir to the throne of David

Postby Hephzibah » Sun Nov 03, 2013 4:37 pm

Is there a place in the sacred scriptures, where a king did not have a son, but daughter only? Are there laws to clarify what would happen in such a case? Any help here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance! :)

I honestly can't think of a place in the Tanakh where such a thing happened. Pretty sure they either had several wives and kids, or died childless (or had themselves and their entire family slaughtered, but hey).

I also don't think there are any laws regarding what happens if an Israeli King only has a daughter. Pretty sure it's presumed that they'll always end up with a son.

Do you ever read the Talmud?

A Levite man is prohibited from marriage out side of his tribe right? But a woman is not?

Thanks again!

I have read parts of the Talmud, but didn't feel the need to waste my time reading much more of it.

Where in the Tanakh is a Levite prohibited from marrying outside of his clan?

The only prohibitions for whom a Levite Priest can marry is that the women is neither divorced, a whore, widowed, and is still a virgin (Lev 21:7 & 13-14) :)
