I think the 10 virgins represent the Called-Out Assembly at the time of the paralambano/rapture. I really didn't see their representing the tribulation time. Remember, the Bridegroom only comes to 'abduct' the Bride, not the guests. I don't think the consumation of the wedding happens when we die; it must occur only after all qualified members of the ekklesia are assembled!
However, after I presented my case to the class, they reminded me that a parable is supposed to make a strong, simple point, drawing people to action. A parable, in the strict sense, is not supposed to be an allegory. So, they say, the point of the 10 Virgins is just this: Be ready.
