Re: Book of Chronicles — what is it actually?

If I understand you right, since textual criticism can take us back to just around when LXX was made (~200BC) and since my hypothesis is about what happened to the text around 450 BC, too much would have happened in between to make the hypothesis interesting or falsifiable. More or less. However I ...

Re: Book of Chronicles — what is it actually?

Well before the question of whether Chronicles should be considered "Canon" can be assessed in full, one needs to determine what the original version of Samuel-Kings was: as there're more than a few differences between the Greek Septuagint Samuel-Kings and that of the Masoretic Hebrew Samu...

Re: Esther 2:12 in Papyrus 967

Excellent stuff there, sestir. Easy to read, with helpful notes for everyone.

Works rather well on a page in that format :)

You going to be doing the rest of the manuscript?

Re: Esther 2:12 in Papyrus 967

Okay - finally had time to look at this. I think we're looking at it reading: p967_est2_12.jpg αλειφομεναι εν ?? σμυρινω ελαιω I'm basing this on the combination of σ+μ seen in Esther 2:3 on the previous page: p967_est2_3.jpg Due to the mark between εν ?? σμυρινω, I'm not sure what the letter is bef...

Hi sestir - sorry I've not responded to you on this.

Currently don't have internet at home at the moment, so I shall have to get back to you on this properly in the next two weeks :)

Re: Galatians 3:20 ܕܚܕ

I need to learn a scandinavian language. I'm quite clueless on them at the moment (I do know 'no' in russian: Nyet :P ). But this again highlights what I mean regarding the above in Galatians: it isn't following the common way Paul (and others) said and wrote things. Why this hasn't caused scholars ...

Re: Galatians 3:20 ܕܚܕ

Unfortunately I don't know enough Aramaic to disagree. Your translation there is pretty much how I've translated the Greek; however looking at it, I think I've missed typing the word "of": However, the mediator and intervener, arbitrator and go-between, reconciler and interceder does not e...

Re: Deuteronomy 12: Not an exception to unclean meats

Hi sestir, I've been racking my brains trying to remember if there was a place off the top of my head that may be able to give a clear cut example of this, but couldn't think of any, nor have I been able yet to find one. Usually the prophetical books contain a change of command to non-command, but t...

Re: Deuteronomy 12: Not an exception to unclean meats

Hi sestir, thanks for the kind words :) As with regards to ואכלתם, I took ואכלתם as indicating a command due to the context going back to v5, where we have the initial imperfect verb starting the command (תדרשו - you shall seek), then followed by the usual strings of waw+perfect (and you shall go......

Due to a few constructive comments, I've updated the initial document.

Re: Deuteronomy 12: Not an exception to unclean meats

Ah righty. Well, as I mentioned in the initial post, I was contacted to go through a translation of Deuteronomy 12 (produced by C. Winn, owner of http://anintroductiontogod.com/ , a person I've had many dealings with previously), that apparently showed that there would be a time where we would be al...

Re: Deuteronomy 12: Not an exception to unclean meats

HI Osito,

Is your question with regards to what the commentary was done for, or is there something I need to go through more thorough?

Deuteronomy 12: Not an exception to unclean meats

I was contacted by a reader of TWTY and Facebook friend with regards to a new 'translation' of Deuteronomy 12 that the ever popular CW has done, which apparently shows that in Deuteronomy 12, we have an exception to when people would be able to eat the 'unclean' meats (pig, shellfish). She asked me ...

Re: Question about Habakkuk 3

Hi JNjr, I can confirm that the Wadi Murabba'at Minor Prophets scroll (MurXII - get transcriptions from here ) does indeed include Habakkuk chapters 1-3. However, the Wadi Murabba'at scroll is dated to be around the 100 CE mark, so three centuries removed from 200BCE. There are two other Dead Sea Sc...

Dead Sea Scrolls - Complete Collection

Well, it's taken a while, but I've finally finished the transcription and comparison of the Dead Sea Scrolls Scriptural manuscripts with the Masoretic text. This now allows me to complete a few other projects that've been started but not completed, and to also start a few more projects that required...

Re: τινα - 1 Cor 5:1 [adult content] Who did it?

τινα is placed between the γυναικα (or την γυναικα in Papyrus 46) and του πατρος for emphasis on the fact that it's την γυναικα that's in question. Also, due to the fact that την γυναικα is a definite object, whereas τινα is an indefinite object would mean that the Greek speaker would have no issue ...

Re: Yahushua the Man

I'm afraid that I've never seen nor have I been shown any scriptures that show that Yahuweh did, could, or ever would forsake Himself. Well as I’ve pointed out, Yahushua was actually quoting from Psalm 22. What I find interesting is that only two of the eyewitness accounts record Yahushua as actual...
