Re: Heir to the throne of David

I have read parts of the Talmud, but didn't feel the need to waste my time reading much more of it.

Where in the Tanakh is a Levite prohibited from marrying outside of his clan?

Re: Was Paul a lawbreaker Part 3

Actually, Paul never said that "All things are lawful". The first verse to use this phrase verse is 1 Corinthians 6:12; but here's the rub: Paul is quoting the Corinthian's letter to him, not *actually* Paul saying that "all things are lawful" (I prefer to translate it as "permitted" rather than "la...

Re: Heir to the throne of David

I honestly can't think of a place in the Tanakh where such a thing happened. Pretty sure they either had several wives and kids, or died childless (or had themselves and their entire family slaughtered, but hey). I also don't think there are any laws regarding what happens if an Israeli King only ha...

Re: Circumcision only related to owning the land?

Hi, SeekingYah: Swalchy, you have commented several times that circumcision is only related to living in the land. I cannot see how you have come to this conclusion. Abram was given possession of the land well before circumcision was ever mentioned. I’ve already pointed out the mentioning of possess...

Re: Circumcision Questions

Officiating in the Temple (as per Ezekiel's "uncircumcised in heart and in flesh") is not tantamount to "entering Yahuweh's home". Especially as, you know, after the 1000 years, the Temple will no longer be a physical place: And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is Yahuweh, God the Almight...

Re: Questioning Paul Review - A look at the Galatians text

Hi Son of Yah, I will certainly go through QP again once the re-write has been completed and uploaded. I guess I'll have to halt the critique of the Hebrew translations until then as well, as well as for the other Greek verses that had yet to be sorted through. Saying that, I'm not expecting much. B...

Re: How would you like a general purpose bible to be divided

Well, it all comes down to your own personal preference - if it's a general Bible for general readers, are they really going to understand the Toledoth groupings in Genesis (2:4-4:26; 5:1-6:8; 6:9-9:20; 10:1-11:9; 11:10-11:26; 11:27-25:11; 25:12-25:19; 25:19-35:29; 36:1-37:1; 37:2-50:26)? I don't kn...

Re: How would you like a general purpose bible to be divided

Well, how I like a "Bible" formatted is how I have them on TWTY: Verses to the side (so as to not mess with the core text so that people can't take verses out of context); Headings and chapters also to the side (same principle as with the verses); and basically, anything that isn't the main text its...

Re: First-Fruits the Third Day?

This is where being able to check the Hebrew is extremely beneficial :) Despite the fact that both Leviticus 23:10 and Numbers 28:26 refer to "firstfruits" - they both use two different Hebrew words! Leviticus 23:10 uses רֵאשִׁית/re'shiyth to refer to "firstfruits"; whereas Numbers 28:26 uses בִּכּו...

Re: YWHW rendered in oldest LXX?

Well several of the manuscripts from the Dead Sea have YHWH in Paleo-Hebrew letters in the midst of Babylonian Hebrew text (although I can't remember which ones exactly from the top of my head), and the curious manuscript 4QSam c ( 4Q53 Samuel ) uses four large dots • • • • in place of YHWH in its t...

Re: First-Fruits the Third Day?

Hi Theo - I go through this in detail in two of my blog postings: Acts 20:7: Did they really meet on a Sunday? ; and Yahuweh’s Feasts: Fixing the dates Part 1 These are then discussed in the two following topics: Topic 1 | Topic 2 If you have any further questions after reading the following, let us...

Re: YWHW rendered in oldest LXX?

It is certainly true that Yahuweh is rendered as YHWH in the Oldest Greek Manuscripts - not only in Hebrew letters, but Paleo-Hebrew letters!

Re: General Yahushua Questions

SeekingYah's (welcome, btw! :)) last statement pretty much nailed it on the head: "Furthermore, even if it were, the Scriptural evidence still seems to support it" - this, I think, being the main thing that we should be seeking to understand: what does Scripture (and therefore Yahuweh Himself) say? ...

Re: General Yahushua Questions

Well, I personally have no idea what a "Shaliach" is.

I also couldn't find the word listed in Scripture either.

Give us a hand with this one, Miles :)

Re: thanks for the DSS transcriptions

You are truly welcome, seraph. It's as much for me as it is for other people. You won't find better and clearer transcriptions of any of the Scriptural DSS anywhere else :) If you want some fantastic quality images for the remaining manuscripts that I haven't got around to transcribing just yet (let...

Re: General Yahushua Questions

Is "el gibbowr" the correct Hebrew term in Isaiah 9:6 translated "Mighty God"? I know you've dug into the DSS so you would definitely know. If so, this doesn't have to mean YHWH does it? 'el Gibbowr is certainly "Mighty God" (or even "Powerful/Strong/Valiant God"). Plus, how could it not be a refer...
