Re: YWHW rendered in oldest LXX?

Wow, it is very good to see this text. I see that I posted so late and in haste that I somehow erred in using YWHW rather than the correct YHWH. Could you comment as to why it was likely rendered in the Paleo-Hebrew letters rather than the Babylonian Hebrew? Also do you find the early LXX texts to b...

Re: First-Fruits the Third Day?

Thanks TWTY-Admin, This helps much. So First-Fruits in 33CE was on the Third Day with Passover being the first, and Matsah the second, but only because Matsah fell on the weekly Sabbath that year, not because First-fruits always flls on the third successive day or Aviv 16th, but also seven Sabbaths ...

First-Fruits the Third Day?

I'm hoping to confirm that First-fruits is indeed the Third Day in the sense of Passover being the first, Matsah the second and First-Fruits the third followed 50 days by Weeks. It could be the translations I've been presented with but see some confusion when comparing Lev and Num passages that coul...

YHWH rendered in oldest LXX?

I heard a claim that I'm hoping to verify. Is it correct that the oldest Greek Septuagint manuscripts use Hebrew letters, not Greek here YHWH appears in the Hebrew text and wonder if this is correct and can this be confirmed either way?

Thank you,
-Theo

Re: Osama - Dead

FWIW, it appears to me that he's truly out of the picture since AQ is confirming the story. I was struck by how relatively impotent AQ itself had become, and ObL in particular, as the best he's been able to muster for years have been meancing audio tapes. I'm wondering if this will accelerate NATO's...

Re: The End of the World

I recall hearing some discussion about this. Apparently it is to occur in a rolling fashion by timezone so that the rapture occurs during the same clock hor around the globe, starting with the international dateline. Much like Y2K, see what happens in New Zealand and prepare accordingly.

Re: Earliest Tanak Texts / Fragments?

Thank you TWTY-Admin, Now that you describe it, I believe that you're correct on the metalic object that I was thinking of. So the gap between the estimated date of the Exodus and the earliest Torah fragments / manuscripts seems to be 800 to 1100 years removed? It doesn't surprise me that writings f...

Earliest Tanak Texts / Fragments?

So what is the earliest text of the Hebrew Scriptures that we have? The most common answer that comes to mind is the Dead Sea scrolls (DSS), but recall some brief fragments of text also found in the Tanahk found on a small metalic object in Jerusalem to include a portion of Deuteronomy roughly 900 t...
